Bindi
Throughout the Hindu culture, bindi can mean something different to each that participates in the ritual. As most things, modernization has changed the meaning for many and some that do not know its origins still participate in some form or fashion.

According to Hinduism, all people have a third eye. The "third eye," represented by the dot in the middle of the brow, is considered to be the sixth chakra that one must align. It is an eye of true perception, and the marking of it with bindi is said to make it even more powerful and connect one even more with your inner self.

This tradition is typically seen at one's wedding. A woman will wear a red dot in the midst of her forehead which is supposed to allow her to be able to flourish in her role as a wife.

The tradition of the bindi was primarily one that occurred with marriage but has now become one that has become mainstream, seen at things such as festivals, though it still holds this meaning for most who truly celebrate it.
